Subject: good time
I had a really good time at this show...imo, better than 4.18 and 4.20 which i also attended. as previously mentioned, the barber did seem to hold back a little, but in a good way...he kept away from those parts where he rages really hard, but its either off key or doesn't really fit with the rest of whats going on...which, as stated before, can really make or break a show. also, referring to a review of the 5.24 shows, this show had an incredible mix of untz and rock, which i also agree is when bisco is at its best. this was just an all around fun show...3 song first set (are the teases in i-man 'crazy train' or 'sweet dreams?') the Kamaole teases/fake out right before inv b&c, marc's note during nughuffer, ducks and geese are free...just an all around good time. even highwire had a little extra big happy in the intro and a false ending...just fun

Subject: Barbers a bit different this night.
I felt that he was really on top of things, but in a restrained and more classic vein. More rock style but still repetetive and developing, which worked well because it sounded fresh, and maybe epic in a certain way. I am not a guitarist but I feel barber makes or breaks a show sometimes. When he is focused it comes through in the jams, even if he plays less notes. I think this may be better than 4/18, due to the I-man and the overall gel. Too much chatter in the recording, but it sounds massive. Im not sure that I like the overall sound quality, but it was an experiment. A bit muffled.

Subject: nice mix
Kudos to the taper for trying an M/S recording. Rich does a great job of mixing an unusual microphone array. Great stereo image. Little too much crowd noise between the mics and the music, but that's stand placement.

Nice job.

Notes

(1) Unfinished; with 'Crazy Train' (Ozzy Osbourne) teases
(2) Inverted version
(3) Ending only, completes 4/17/08 version
(4) Middle only
(5) Ending only
